A walk along the Benkei Moat in Tokyo

Tokyo is one of the most populous cities in the world but it’s also home to many idyllic walks scattered across the capital.

On a sunny afternoon, you might want to stroll along the Benkei moat where you could spot fishermen and their adorable boats just cruising along.

While soaking up the seasonal floral colours, you can’t miss the famous Benkei bridge that was rebuilt after its destruction during the war.

The moat and bridge are named after the warrior monk Saitō Musashibō Benkei (1155–1189). This towering 2-metre tall man remains popular in Japanese folklore and was known for his great strength and loyalty to his lord, Minamoto no Yoshitsune.

To further enjoy this delightful walk, drop by after a creative and varied Omakase lunch (Chef’s menu) nearby at Kioicho Mitani!
